Frequently Asked Questions FAQ
For whom is Feng Shui suitable?
A Feng Shui consultation is similar to a visit to the doctor: either you go to get a preventive check-up to ease your mind or you have something specific on your mind that you would like to change. In both cases improvement of the current living or business situation is the goal and we are happy to lend you our support!
What impact does Feng Shui have?
Feng Shui ensures that rooms are supplied with good energy. The energy flow leads to health on a physical, spiritual and mental level. The correct association of active / passive (in Feng Shui: yin and yang) is crucial. The fundamental human needs of assurance and protection (yin) as well as variety and inspiration (yang) should be fulfilled. In business the energy flow is always correlated to money and a good office climate. That vitalized rooms look better and more harmonic is a pleasant side benefit of Feng Shui.
When is the appropriate time for a Feng Shui consulation?
The appropriate moment is when you are ready to make changes. With regard to real estate an early consulation before concluding the lease or purchase contract can save future trouble. With moving into new spaces and the associated renovation measures the implementation of Feng Shui is very cost-friendly and will take you from the start in the right energy. And also at any other time very good results can be achieved. As a crisis intervention Feng Shui is best suited in personal as well as business situations.
How much does a Feng Shui consultation cost?
The cost of a consultation depends on the number of floors, rooms, residents and especially the existing problems. The size of the area is secondary. Please contact us for a non-comittal and and free of charge consultation on the phone. After a detailed preliminary talk we will offer you a binding fixed price. A Feng Shui consultation provides information and support in a very condensed form and - in contrast to almost all other methods of coaching - needs to be done only once.
What is the process of a Feng Shui consultation?
Before each assignment a detailed, free preliminary talk shall clarify the concern, expectations, issues and expenses.
1.) First site visit: Personal acquaintance, survey and inspection of the premises and the surrounding area, measurements, photo documentation (if necessary)
2.) Analysis of Feng Shui: Calculation of the object with different methodologies, identification of basic themes. Calculation of the energy profiles of the managers / residents.
3.) Development of the harmonization concept and solution strategy: We develop customized solutions by linking the personal energy profile of a person BaZi Suanming with the potentials of the rooms. Thus we achieve the best results. In areas where an individualization does not make sense, we put the use of space in the foreground and support the theme in their respective fields. In a hospital room, for example, the issue of health.
4.) Second site visit: From Feng Shui to Interior Design. Detailed advice of the determined contents and explanation of the solution strategy. We provide ideas and suggestions how the desired energies to harmonize can be activated. This is done by selecting the right device, shapes, colors, materials, furniture, lamps, fabrics. You choose according to your taste, inventory, budget.
5.) Follow-up service including: If you have any questions regarding the suitability of an item for your property, you can always ask by e-mail and send corresponding pictures.
6.) We are happy to also take on the implementation of design measures for you. If you perform the changes on your own, a third appointment after the work is useful to ensure that all measures, especially the coloring, were executed perfectly.
What information is needed?
1.) The layout of the residential or commercial area. In case it extends over several floors, a plan of each floor is required.
2.) The property map for units with associated outdoor area (available from the Land Registry Office).
3.) Birth with time and location to create the BaZi Suanming. The registry office of your place of birth can give you information on the birth of time.
How quick is the effect?
A Feng Shui consultation is a process that starts with the discussion of the conversion options. However, the measures must be implemented to ensure the changes to manifest. In the removal of negative influences (Sat Chi) often an immediate effect can be felt.
Is an eastern method suitable for our Western culture at all?
The principles of Feng Shui are based on natural laws which are the same everywhere in the world. The implementation is then in the context of the particular culture. The Feng Shui analysis results in the selection of the right element according to the Five- Elements-Cycle, the customer decides the design according to his taste. This applies to all spaces, whether for business or leisure and also for garden design. Much of what is marketed under Feng Shui has nothing to do with the authentic teaching. Some offers are part of an esoteric wave which converts a lot of money under the guise of Feng Shui (examples, see our blog at Sheng Pfui) or part of traditional Chinese culture where beliefs in mysticism and superstition play a large role. Authentic Feng Shui does not require any accessories because Feng Shui is about choosing the correct furniture, flooring, wall colors and positions, and not about imposing additional things.
Can you make Feng Shui only with intuition?
No, this is not possible. The man goes always with the energy that is its nature. For each form of compensation the mind is needed. This is true not only in Feng Shui but in all areas of human psychology. The subconscious mind - more specifically, the feelings - always aims at the satisfaction of needs. The mind can curb the craving, but frequently fails here. Anyone who has ever been on a diet because he wanted to lose weight and still not got past chips or chocolate, knows the conflict between emotion and reason.
What are the options to assess the quality of a Feng Shui consultant?
Feng Shui is not a protected profession. It follows that anyone who has ever read a book about Feng Shui can call himself consultant. The reference to certificates is only of limited assistance, because the data on the number of hours of training is missing. A certificate can be purchased on a weekend or in a multi-year training. Titles are little guarantee of quality, because these are not subject to mandatory regulation. A Champion title may have been awarded by a Grand Master in recognition or downloaded from the Internet.
There is a professional association of Feng Shui consultants and geomancers, whose task is to ensure the quality of advice. It excludes at least remote training forms. However, the certified training institutions are of varying quality and produce countless numbers of intuitive / spiritual active soncultants. In order to avoid misunderstandings it should be added here that all Feng Shui consultants are trained to grasp spatial conditions immediately. But the recommendations for change should not be based on intuition. Otherwise, it does not compensate the energy (see previous question) or it may adjust the spaces for the energy needs of the consultant, not the client.
How do I find the right consultant?
First of all, a detailed discussion should take place to conduct if sympathy and trust are present. The customer should describe his concerns and the professional should explain how he would proceed. It is not about remote diagnostics, but plausibility. Good Feng Shui methods are plausible. If justifications cannot be delivered and the answer is "it feels better to", one should proced with caution.
It is important to know that the methods for the calculation of outdoor areas (this includes real property from single-family houses and gardens) and complex buildings (blocks, hospitals, hotels) are unlike other methods of Feng Shui. These outdoor methods belong to advanced Feng Shui. Feng Shui schools use different names for them and use them differently, they are not compatible. While working within a system, good results can be achieved in different ways.
How did you come to Feng Shui?
This question is addressed by almost every person to Silke Nierfeld and thus reflects that she does not correspond to the usual notion of a Feng Shui consultant. Her way to Feng Shui progressed in stages:
1.) In 2001, she furnished an apartment with lots of love. But despite all the dedication there were areas that did not feel well. The learning outcome: Design alone is not enough.
2.) She earned all kinds of Feng Shui books and experimented with crystals, mirrors, waterfall posters, and other supposed "Feng Shui Accessories". An effect could not be established.
3.) In designing the next home she hired a Feng Shui consultant. He recommended bright colors on all walls, different in every room. The color choice turned out to be unbearable. Since there was no way of determining the right colors, different colors were tried using trial and error. Some rooms had been painted several times. Later it turned out that the counselor had no Feng Shui training and the color choices was made arbitrarily.
4.) In 2008, Silke Nierfeld attended a conference of the Chue Foundation of Master Chan and realized that there are two types of Feng Shui. The ineffective decoration with accessories and a classic-traditional Feng Shui which is taught by a few masters. Her curiosity was aroused and she graduated from basic training to Feng Shui consultant.
5.) Eighteen months later, she was able to calculate the colors for a feel-good atmosphere, but not (yet) other things that enable the essential improvements. She completed her postgraduate studies in Imperial Feng Shui and recognized it as the language for her highly sensitive spatial perception. Silke Nierfeld expanded her studies and learned traditional Feng Shui under different teachers and many other Eastern and Western methods of influencing Chi.
6.) With consulting experience as a Feng Shui expert it was more obvious for Silke Nierfeld that the problems and obstacles of businesses and individuals are reflected in the environment. Resonance - the universal law - acts always and everywhere. That is why she put solution strategies at the center of her work. It is not only important to her to successfully handle each project, but also to convey the principles and contexts to her customers - as humus for further developments and new perspectives.
